Working Out Safely During A Pregnancy

The human body goes through various changes all throughout life. Right from birth, through infancy, puberty and old age, we experience physical and mental transformations. A woman’s body experiences a lot more change as compared to a man’s. The reason this is so is because a woman goes through a more intense phase of puberty and she also bears children.

To ensure a smooth transitioning from one phase to another, it’s best to keep your body healthy, fit and fine. In any case, there’s nothing like a good work-out to keep yourself fit. But there are certain aspects of your physical condition that you must consider before going ahead with a selected workout program. When we say physical condition, we are focusing on things like age, weight and during pregnancy.
A few important exercise points that would be worth considering during pregnancy have been discussed below. The level of exercising needs to be altered as you get further and further along.
Seek your doctor’s advice before indulging in a workout routine

If you already follow a routine for your daily workout and you’ve just received news of your pregnancy, it’s best to contact your doctor before proceeding with your next workout session. Depending on the stage of pregnancy you’re at, various exercises are prescribed to ensure you and your baby stay safe. If you have been advised of any complications in your pregnancy, you would definitely want to tone down your fitness routine or stop it completely.
Choose your exercise wear

Exercising while you’re pregnant could be quite a task as the changes to your body make it difficult for you to move or stretch comfortably. One aspect that could ease this tension would be the clothes you wear while working out. It’s best to wear comfortable clothing made of soft fabrics so you don’t feel too hot or sweaty after you warm-up. Most pregnant women suffer from swollen feet, so choose footwear that is loose and that keeps you relaxed.
Watch your calories

Most workouts concentrate on losing calories, but the scenario is different when you’re pregnant. You need to follow a healthy diet so as to ensure that you and your baby’s growth are positively affected. Your doctor and physical trainer can guide you accordingly. Another important factor to consider when you’re pregnant is if you are underweight or overweight. Your fitness regime will need to be carefully planned and executed, closely following regular check-ups and professional advice.
Pre and post-pregnancy exercise routine

Women who exercise before and during their pregnancy, based on their doctor’s advice, are more likely to get back into their pre-pregnancy body after delivery. Your healthcare provider will suggest the best exercises and diet that you need to follow in order to stay healthy.
Circumstances that completely restrict you from exercising

Certain complicated pregnancies completely refrain from any kind of physical or mental strain. These circumstances may include vaginal bleeding, premature contractions, blood pressure fluctuations and rupture of amniotic sac. In these situations your doctor would ideally advise you to refrain from any kind of physical stress which would include working and exercising. You could discuss with your doctor the option of other fitness routines like yoga and meditation instead.
A good warm up

When you are pregnant, your body’s ability to deal with sudden pressures decreases. Hence, most women are advised to either work or exercise less or refrain from both completely. If, after consulting with your doctor, you can exercise, it’s best to start your routine with a nice long warm up session. This gives your body the time it needs to prepare itself for exercise. A good warm up also helps you increase your heart rate gradually and not suddenly.
Remember, exercising while you’re pregnant is a good way to stay stress-free, physically fit and mentally stable, but doing it right is equally important!

Fetal Heart Problems Linked To Mothers’ Diet

According to a new study, whatever a woman consumes before and during her pregnancy may well lead to her baby having complications, inclusive of heart problems. This risk feature of congenital heart disease was unknown up until now.
The study that was published in ‘Archives of Diseases in Childhood Fetal and Neonatal Edition’ inquired from up to 19,000 ladies in the United States about their food regimes during the year that led to their pregnancy. Half of these women’s babies suffered from heart diseases while the remaining half didn’t. Rene Tabaro, a nutritionist from King Faisal hospital, describes the relationship amidst mothers’ food habits and their babies having congenital heart diseases.

“Before and during a woman’s pregnancy, she needs to have adequate amount of foods that are rich in iron, mineral salts (e.g. calcium) and proteins. Eggs, milk, and fish can fulfill the requirements of protein whereas rice and potatoes offer carbohydrates while vegetables and fruits provide various essential vitamins. For easy digestion, water being the universal solvent is very important. Consuming contaminated foods puts both the mother and her baby at high risk of getting infections, therefore, they should be eluded.”

According to well-established medical literature, nutrition and fetal abnormalities are strongly interlinked, e.g. defects of neural tube-like ‘Spina Bifida’ in which a mother is advised to start with prenatal vitamins or folic acid before she attempts to conceive, if she doesn’t have sufficient folic acid within her system during pregnancy. Similarly, there is also an interrelationship between diets with low calories and the negative effects motherly Anorexia Nervosa have on a fetus.
Precisely, this study featured a heart deformity known as ‘Tetralogy of Fallot’ in which mothers having the worst diets of all were highly likely of giving birth to a child having this deadly heart disease. Many such heart diseases cannot be seen in babies until they’re born as with their initial breath their circulation reroutes, and hence one of the first indications of something being wrong is respiratory distress.

Mothers who are expecting should consume a minimum of 70 mg vitamin C daily, according to the ‘American Pregnancy Association’. Vitamin C can be found in many foods, including, grapefruit, oranges, tomatoes, broccoli and kiwi. Carbohydrates and energy are contained in enriched and whole grain products that also provide folic acid, vitamin B, and fiber. Depending on a pregnant mother’s weight, 6-11 servings of grains are needed daily, but women with average weight at initiation of their pregnancy only require 200 to 300 calories extra every day. The old saying of ‘Eating for Two’ may contribute to a huge motherly weight gain and gestational diabetes, both being unhealthy for the mother and the child.

Could Kelly Clarkson Be Expecting Twins?

The world loves Kelly Clarkson and there isn’t much that can keep fans away from all that’s happening in this humble celebrity’s life.
First, they were there right beside her when she was struggling to get pregnant and reportedly had to seek medical help. Then, they were right beside her in the celebrations when she gave birth to River Rose. So it’s obvious that they’re all enthusiastic about Clarkson’s pregnancy now as well!
To add to their excitement, a fresh bit of news has leaked out of – wait for it – Clarkson’s mouth, and it hints that not one, but maybe two babies are on the way!
Now, we all know that Clarkson being pregnant the second time around with husband Brandon Blackstock was big news, but now that there’s an inkling of not one, but two more babies joining the beautiful family, everyone wants to know more.
Excited already? Well, here are the details!
It all went down when Clarkson was sharing her life’s details with fans over the Leigh Ann & Courtney Uncorked show on 103.7. Telling us about her pregnancy as well as the usual stuff that go along with one, Clarkson let it slip that maybe, just maybe, there’s more than one kid on the way.
“I’m gonna be everywhere once I get these kids popped out and done. That’s why I look all …”, she said, her voice giving way to some laughter.

Well, it didn’t take us long to catch on to the fact that she used the plural this time around while talking about the babies and we all know that it couldn’t be just a slip of the tongue! After all, who better than a to-be momma to be all excited and accidentally reveal that she could be expecting twins!
There was other stuff that the 33-year old revealed to her fans as well including the difficulties in her pregnancy.
“I have this thing, like one percent of women get, it’s called hyperemesis. It’s horrible. It’s like the darkest places I’ve ever been in my life. I’m familiar with all day sickness. It’s pretty bad. I have to get IVs and fluids, I get so dehydrated. It’s really bad.”
Well, we sure hope she puts all these complications behind her soon, but even so, our minds are still trained on the fact that she let slip a few words that possibly indicated twins.
Of course, her rep had to play spoilsport and clarify on an official note that the rumors simply weren’t true and that Clarkson surely wasn’t expecting twins, but hey, fans will be fans and will always hope that some extra happiness comes their favorite celebrity’s way!
It was in August that Clarkson had revealed her pregnancy to fans, and during her concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles too. In her usual bubbly self, Clarkson had said, “I was not planning on announcing this. I’m totally pregnant again. That was not planned. I just didn’t want you to think I was crazy. Honestly, I’m just hormonal today. Nothing’s wrong. I’m OK. I haven’t vomited yet!”
Of course, the well wishes and prayers soon came piling in and in October, when Clarkson took to her Instagram account with a cute little picture of River Rose, revealing that it was a baby boy who was on the way, fans made sure they let her know how happy they were for her.

In other news, River's gonna have a little baby brother 🙂 #itsaboy We're so excited!

Well, now this bit of news of more than one kid sure seems to be in contrast with her announcement but hey, who knows! We may well find a pleasant surprise waiting for us around the corner.
Whatever the true scenario may be, we are all happy for Clarkson and her little family, and wish them all the happiness in the world!

Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Are Expecting!

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are expecting their first child and we think it’s the happiest bit of news as far as cute couples getting pregnant goes!
Teigen and Legend have been extremely popular on the celebrity front and their easygoing nature and the beautiful love they share have brought about a fan following that few other celebrity couples enjoy. Now that the duo are going to be a family soon, their fans are as excited as ever!
Taking to Instagram, 29-year old Teigen broke the amazing piece of news to fans with a beautiful photograph of her and her musician husband enjoying a genuine moment of fun together. As always, the couple looks gorgeous in it! Then, after admiring the love they share so easily and openly with each other, your eyes go the right and the word ‘pregnant’ immediately gets your attention!
“John and I are so happy to announce that we are pregnant,” begins Teigen’s post with a cute smiley face to go along with the precious news. The leggy model then went on to tell her fans how the journey to becoming pregnant wasn’t an easy one and how the two have been “trying to have a baby for a while now.”
“It hasn’t been easy, but we kept trying because we can’t wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family,” Teigen continues, going on to tell the world how excited they were that it was finally happening. Oh, and she is actually forward to all the “belly touching” too!

Legend kept it simpler, sharing the news on Twitter along with a link to his Instagram account with the same picture that Teigen had shared, although the excitement in “We’re pregnant!” was evident!

#babylegend soon began trending and along with friends and family, fans also tagged along on various online platforms to forward their blessings and good wishes to the happy couple.
“Congratulations! You’ll be great parents and will have a beautiful baby!” wrote one user on Teigen’s Instagram post while another wrote, “Congratulations to you both amazingly beautiful people.”
Here are a few more wishes that clearly made it to the front of the queue!

This bit of news is especially a relief to those who had knowledge of Teigen’s struggles with getting pregnant. Only recently, the beautiful model had shared her predicament on her new talk show FABlife.
“John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it had happened. But, my gosh, it’s been a process,” she had said.

Later, Teigen revealed her failures and successes with IVF and spoke of how overwhelmed she was with the outpouring of support that came their way, especially how all those around her had chosen to keep the couple’s struggle under wraps from the unwanted glare of the media.
“Like I said, John and I have been going through this for years and it’s something that has been a part of our lives and our friends have known. So it’s just nice to have a show and kind of acknowledge it to people because I felt like I was keeping a secret from them and it was weird. So it’s nice to have all my social media friends know and have them share their stories, too,” Teigen had said.
“I think we just have really good people around us that never said anything or else you would have known. Nobody said a thing. I swear, I have a team of maybe 60 people, John has hundreds and everyone knew. The failures, the successes, everything but it’s never gotten out. We’ve been open about it just never public,” she had continued on the beautiful people around them.
Well, it turns out that all those struggles as well as blessings have finally borne fruit – John Legend and Chrissy Teigen will soon be proud parents!
Here’s wishing the amazing couple a safe and memorable pregnancy!
