Top 5 Beach Vacations for A-Listers

When celebrities go on vacation, they tend to opt for private islands and exclusive resorts where they are protected from the sweaty masses, and can play and be pampered in the lap of luxury.

Necker Island

Owned by Virgin’s Sir Richard Branson, Necker has been host to some of the most famous people in the world including Mariah Carey, Kate Moss, Rod Stewart and Oprah Winfrey. Kate Winslet was of course staying at the Great House when it burned to the ground in August 2011.

The 74-acre island in the British Virgin Islands was purchased by the magnate and father-of-three back in 1978 and opened as a luxury retreat in 1984. The rebuilt Great House has eight bedrooms, a bunkhouse for the kids, plus a master suite and there are an additional six one-bedroom houses. If you don’t need to rent the entire island (for roughly $62,000 a night), you and your significant other can enjoy a week’s stay for approximately $30,000.

Hawaii

The eight islands of Hawaii have long been a favorite beach vacation destination for celebrities with A-listers like Katy Perry, Will Smith, Kim Kardashian, Charlize Theron and Cameron Diaz being spotted in the surf.

Kauai seems to attract many of the rich and famous, some of whom enjoy their time at the St. Regis Princeville, a 5-star resort on Hanalei Bay. Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have been known to stay at the enormous hideaway, which features its own waterfall, working cattle ranch, and de rigeur spa.

Punta de Mita, Mexico

Following Lady Gaga’s 2011 visit, Punta de Mita has seen its share of famous visitors like Kirsten Dunst, Charlie Sheen and Hilary Duff gracing its beaches. Although it’s quite a small village, its beachfront location and proximity to Puerto Vallarta attracts A-listers who want a break from the hustle and bustle of L.A. and maybe try their hand at surfing, snorkeling and other water sports.

Cabo, Mexico

Known to be Jennifer Aniston’s favorite get-away, the former Friends star is often seen soaking up the sun at Las Ventanas Al Paraiso with bikini-buddy Courteney Cox and fiance Justin Theroux.

The draw is the spectacular setting and luxury that can’t be beat, with all the expected requirements for the pampered: custom furnishings, heated infinity pools, chilled Evian spray for too-warm sunbathers and 24-hour butler service.

George Clooney, Simon Cowell, Jennifer Lopez and Sheryl Crow are other famous faces who enjoy the resort, located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. It seems that whale-watching and celebrity-spotting are equally rewarding pastimes in Cabo.

Bora Bora

The St. Regis is just one of the upscale resorts offering private, over-the-water villas, and World-class service on one of the most beautiful and romantic islands in the world, set amid endless Pacific waters.

The Mediterranean

Cruising through the Mediterranean has only one serious drawback – you will want to get off the ship and head ashore every time you see those magnificent backdrops! The quaint towns with their colorful and inviting alleys or the long stretches of breathtaking coastline, you will always be filled with awesome views. This is one route you can never go wrong with no matter what time of the year it is and some of the ports on the route even retain the same old world charm you may have only seen in movies or photographs. The different cultures, cuisines, and people will enliven each day and choosing a cruise that explores new shores such as Limassol, Balearic Islands apart from the usual fare of Venice, Athens or Istanbul will make your experience even better.

The Caribbean

The Caribbean may sound like standard holiday fare and yet, exploring this region on a cruise ship gives you the ability to see all that it has to offer, and you will then realize how wrong these assumptions are. You can choose from a wide variety of cruise liners including the Royal Caribbean International, the Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line or Carnival Cruises. Grand mountains blessed by all the beauty of nature, coral reefs that tell you all about how beautiful and colorful the sea can be, and of course, the beautiful beaches – the Caribbean has it all. You just can’t go wrong when you plan a cruise vacation here.

Canada and New England

The tranquil surroundings and wide expanses of beautiful scenes blend in with the old world charm and breathtaking landscapes, making your journey a memorable one. The cruises that cover this voyage include ports such as Boston, Halifax, Saint John and Portland in their itinerary and there is plenty to do here. The rich history of this region is overwhelming and is a great way for family to bond during their holidays.

Hawaii’s Most Tranquil And Hidden Beaches

Hawaii is one of the places on earth that could easily be mistaken for Eden. The bodies of water, the flora and fauna, the weather, and even its unchartered territories where few tourists wander – all of it makes it worthwhile.

If you’re about to visit Hawaii any time soon, you should know about all the must-see locations by now. However, there are secret little beaches too that are accessible through trails, drives, unpaved roads, or boat rides. A lot of these beaches are present on one of the most popular islands of Hawaii, Kauai. Let’s talk about some of the most tranquil hidden beaches here on Kauai.

Donkey Beach

1_Hawaii’s_Most_Tranquil_And_Hidden_Beaches

Donkey Beach is located on the eastern side of Kauai, Hawaii. Yes, it is named after the burros and donkeys that work on the plantations near the beach. The beach is made up of a sandy strip flanked by palm trees at its two ends. The water before the beach can be choppy and is not very suitable for swimming, but there are lots of ideal places to relax, sunbathe, or even have a little picnic away from busier beaches. At one side of the beach, the sand is covered heavily by smooth lava rocks.

Directions: To reach Donkey Beach, park your vehicle at mile marker 11 at Kuhio Highway. There will be a trail that you can follow to reach the beach.

Note: You won’t find any bathrooms here.

Secret Beach (Kauapea Beach)

2_Hawaii’s_Most_Tranquil_And_Hidden_Beaches

The only way to get to Kauapea Beach is to hike for 10 minutes along a steep way. Given its hidden nature, Kauapea Beach has been known as Secret Beach of Hawaii for long. The golden sand and dolphins can make it a great location during the summer. Lava rocks adorn the sand sporadically. There isn’t much shade to be found, but there is something else. At its back is a lush hillside with a small waterfall and sprawling vegetation that completes the experience.

Directions: The beach is situated between Kilauea and Kalihiwai.

Note: Don’t expect to be alone on the Secret Beach. Also, there are no restrooms on this beach.

Polihale State Park

3_Hawaii’s_Most_Tranquil_And_Hidden_Beaches

At the left end of Highway 50 is Polihale State Park. You will be able to reach it by a pothole-filled dirt road that goes on for five miles. At the first fork, take a right and park at the parking lot. Behind the sand dunes is the beach. The sand at the beach is white and width of the beach reaches up to 300 feet. Be warned, the waters can be fierce so swimming is not the best thing to do.

However, this is one of the more secluded beaches mentioned here and the view of the Napali Coast as well as that of Niihau, Hawaii’s only privately owned island, is breathtaking. Behind the beach are sand dunes. The parking area at the beach has restrooms as well as facilities such as picnic tables. You can get some shade too here.

Kipu Kai Beach

It’s not actually seven miles long, just saying, but it is rightly known as the best beach in the Caribbean. Seven Mile Beach is the most developed and most famous beach of the island with luxury hotels and resorts around it.

Regardless the large number of hotels and resorts here, there are no lack of beaches. You can walk around the shoreline and enjoy the warm sunlight as it is the only thing you can do at Seven Mile Beach.

You can pack a picnic basket and set up a grill for some barbeques here. If you have any pets, they can run around freely to enjoy the beach as there is freedom here for that. However, everything has a price, and you are not allowed to play music loudly and the display of public nudity is strictly prohibited.

As you can guess from the name, the greatest part of this island is the birds. You can see as many as 300,000 diverse species of birds flourishing here. The birds are not the only thing you can look forward to either as there are dolphins that visit the beach as well. You can also join a tour to learn about the breeding habits of sea turtles.

Even though a lot of tourists opt for Anse de Grande Salin beach, many others prefer Anse du Gouverneur over any other beach in St. Bart’s Island. You can have all the privacy you need as the beach is surrounded by vast cliffs. The white sandy beaches are a picture perfect vacation spot. You can relax here as the beach is not very crowded. Do bring your umbrella with you though to protect your skin from the scorching sun.

Champagne Beach, Vanuatu

At the time of low tide, the water of the sea fizzles, making it feel all bubbly and ticklish while swimming. This phenomenon is the impact of escaping gas on the seafloor from the volcanic rocks. This beach is famous for its clear waters. You can enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving as well as observe the marine life on the island that includes frogfish, lobsters, giant crabs, and seahorses. You can surely enjoy a picnic in the shade of palm trees.

The eight islands of Hawaii have long been a favorite beach vacation destination for celebrities, with A-listers like Katy Perry, Will Smith, Kim Kardashian, Charlize Theron and Cameron Diaz being spotted in the surf.

Kauai seems to attract many of the rich and spoiled, some of whom enjoy their time at the St. Regis Princeville, a 5-star resort on Hanalei Bay. Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have been known to stay at the enormous hideaway, which features its own waterfall, working cattle ranch and de rigeur spa.

With its sprawling beaches and more than 7 miles of shoreline, Southampton is a beautiful vacation spot along the Atlantic. It also has private estates of the well-to-do and is a playground for the upper crust. With exclusive shops and fine dining within its village center, there are plenty of opportunities to spot celebrities.

South Beach, Miami

South Beach is a draw for stars from Jennifer Lopez and Shakira to the Kardashian clan and Will Smith. Not only is there Miami’s non-stop nightlife to enjoy, but nature beckons with clear water, constant sunshine and miles of golden sandy beaches.

With A-List accommodations including places like the Fontainebleau, Tides, The Delano and the Ritz-Carleton, stars can be pampered between boardwalk saunters.

If stars feel a need to work while they play, the Setai has a 2,500-square-foot ocean-view recording studio inside. Designed by Lenny Kravitz, performers who have laid tracks there include Beyonce, Timbaland and Mary J. Blige.

Other celebrities said to have stayed at the South Beach hotel, with its Art Deco touches and Zen Asian influence, include Gisele and Tom Brady, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio and Bono, but here’s no word on which of the guests took the $30,000-a-night penthouse suite with its Steinway piano, large coral-encased Jacuzzi tubs, and private rooftop infinity pool.

Malibu, Los Angeles

If you rub shoulders with celebrities, it stands to reason that the place they work and live is also the place they play. Malibu beaches have seen the likes of David Beckham with sons Cruz, Brooklyn and Romeo, and it’s no wonder that the rich and famous spend time there. After all, the Carbon Beach section of Malibu is known as “Billionaire’s Beach,” with multi-million dollar homes lining the mile-long beachfront. Just as an example, Courtney Cox and then-husband David Arquette had a home on Carbon Beach, which they sold for $33.5 million after their split.

Hyannis, MA

Although most people related Hyannis in Cape Cod with the Kennedy’s Hyannis Port compound, it’s also a family-friendly place with a laid-back atmosphere and superior wind-surfing available at the very walkable and well-maintained Kalmus Beach, known for its excellent dunes.

Of course, when Taylor Swift descended on Hyannis, purchasing a summer home near the Kennedy compound, the paparazzi went wild. Apparently, she sold the Cape Cod-style house nearly as fast as she dropped the Kennedy boyfriend, and turned a nice profit at the same time. The celebrity connection may have helped boost the final sale price, with Swift making nearly $1 million dollars after owning the house for just seven months.

A big draw in the area is the Cape Cod Melody Tent, where performers like Aretha Franklin, B.B. King and the Beach Boys have performed on the rotating stage. With an eclectic choice of stars, there’s something for everyone: Ziggy Marley opened this year’s summer season playing to a sold out crowd and comedian Bill Cosby performed at the Melody Tent at the end of August.
