The Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, has confirmed that he will be joining the LA Galaxy after the end of the English Premier League season. Gerrard, now 34-years old, is following in the footsteps of David Beckham who made a similar move to LA after his stint with Real Madrid in 2007.
When asked about why he would make such a move, Gerrard responded by saying, “I think there are a number of reasons, obvious age is one, I think it’s the right time for a new challenge, a fresh challenge in my life and I think it’s an exciting one as well.”
Now that Landon Donovan has retired after a spectacular finish to his career, Gerrard may be the perfect replacement for LA. Even before stepping on the pitch for his new team, Gerrard is already guaranteed one supporter and it’s none other than Los Angeles Lakers’ very own, Kobe Bryant.
“I’m looking forward to getting out there and watching you do your thing. I’ve been a fan of yours for a very, very long time and your versatility and your aggressiveness and your leadership. So welcome to Los Angeles man.”
