The 2014 World Series has seen its fair share of 1-sided victories. Only once in the last 6 games has the margin of victory been less than 5 runs, and that came in Game 3 when the Royals won 3-2.
Game 1: Giants win by 6, 7-1
Game 2: Royals win by 5, 7-2
Game 3: Royals win by 1, 3-2
Game 4: Giants win by 7, 11-4
Game 5: Giants win by 5, 5-0
Game 6: Royals win by 10, 10-0
Last night, the Royals came up huge with a 10-0 spanking to force a Game 7. With their backs against the wall, and the added pressure of playing at home, Kansas City exploded for 7 runs in the second inning to put this one away early.
There was nothing but praise for the 23-year-old pitcher, Yordano Ventura, who tossed seven innings and only gave up 3 hits. Yost said afterwards, “We’ve talked all along about how special he is, but this shows you can’t be on a bigger stage than he was tonight. And to perform the way he did was special.”
Game 7 takes place tonight at 8:00 PM ET at Kauffman Stadium.
