To be fair, there’s a little more to the story here. DeMarcus Cousins has only played well for one coach over the past 4 years – and the Sacramento Kings fired him. It came as a surprise to pretty much everyone in the league, especially Cousins. He was also out of action for 10 games due to a bout with viral meningitis, and according Mike Prada of SB Nation, the problem seems to be coming from a new style of play.
They tried pushing the pace … which only tired DeMarcus Cousins and caused many of his bad defensive habits to return. Mind-boggling.

Now that the Kings want more possessions, a natural byproduct of this is an increase in pace. Apparently, an increase in pace is not good for Cousins as he tires faster and is susceptible to taking entire plays off. Not to mention that he’s trying to get back into shape – and probably frustrated by the fact that Rudy Gay tried to dribble into 3 defenders.
We don’t know about you, but this is probably going to get worse before it gets better.
