Michael Bay Zeroes in on Paramount’s ’13 Hours’, Based on Benghazi Attack

September 11, 2012 witnessed a dreadful terrorist attack on the U.S. State Department Special Mission Compound in Benghazi, Libya. Now, the shocking terrorist attack has found its way into Hollywood and the latest news is that Michael Bay is keenly eyeing the project at Paramount.
The script is ready and the project, thanks to the news the incident made and its ramifications, is all set to have a huge budget worthy of the storyline. Paramount had acquired the rights to the book based on the incident even before it was published, so now, the script written by Chuck Hogan is based on this book, “Thirteen Hours: A Firsthand Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi” by Mitchell Zuckoff. Erwin Stoff is reportedly the producer at the helm of the venture.
The feature film will depict, along with the political drama, the heroic attempts of the members of the security crew that defended the several Americans stationed in the Special Mission Compound at the time of the attack. These members of security were successful in their endeavors to a certain extent too, though they were unable to protect the U.S Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and the U.S. Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith who lost their lives in the attack. The film will also describe the assault that followed at the CIA annex nearby, during which two contract workers were killed.
Celebrated director Michael Bay is reported to be in talks to direct the film ‘13 Hours’, a film account that will give viewers an inside story of the actual assault of the Islamic militants on the American diplomatic compound. Bay is well known for his unparalleled direction of the famous box office hits like Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, The Rock and the Transformer series. This high budget, action film director is renowned for keeping his audience spellbound with every scene that appears on screen and is hence the closest-to-perfect choice for this exciting project. Considering Bay’s previous works, viewers can expect a perfect rendition of the events that occurred on the night of the terrorist attack.
Bay has all his focus concentrated on this project and after announcing his withdrawal chartbuster Transformers franchise earlier this year, is the perfect choice to grab the director’s chair. This movie should certainly do justice to the lives laid down, while bringing alive the heroics of the ones who saved the day.
