Kim Kardashian may be in the news these days thanks to her high profile lifestyle and nude photos in Paper magazine, but there was a time when her wedding to Kris Humphries was all that people were talking about. Well, the talk didn’t last long because the marriage didn’t either. It only took the couple 72 days for the pair to get tired of each other and Kim filed for divorce from the NBA player. The wedding was even featured on E! in the show Keeping Up with the Kardashians in a special titled Kim’s Fairytale Wedding.

One of the most recent celebrity divorces that made headlines was Katy Perry and Russell Brand. Their marriage lasted for 14 months and ended in December of 2011. The split caused Katy to give up on alcohol due to the negative thoughts entering her mind. As for Brand, well he seemed to go off on a ‘let’s change the world and everything in it’ journey, which includeed crazy interviews and a news network of his own on YouTube. The initiative still hasn’t ended.

If we’re comparing time to divorce – this one would’ve taken the cake. Britney Spears’ marriage to Jason Alexander lasted a mere 55 hours! As most drunk couples tend to do, they married in Las Vegas and probably decided to end it as soon as the effects of alcohol wore off. The fall of the pop star began here, though luckily, she was able to revive a part of her celebrity status.

Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson took their relationship to three levels in the three years that they were together – the two began dating in 2001, were engaged in 2002, and called it quits in 2003. They got together again in 2006, again with a wedding that was held in three stages – a wedding ceremony on a yacht on July 29th, the signing of official wedding papers at the courthouse in Beverly Hills on August 3rd, and then an onstage wedding in Nashville on August 17th. Well, the three-tier series didn’t last very long as the couple filed for divorce about three months later – on November 27th. Wow!
Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman

Now this one was quite a story. Dennis Rodman and the Baywatch beauty Carmen Electra got married on November 14, 1998. Less than a week later, Rodman announced that he was drunk during the wedding, and then went on to file for annulment of the nuptials, which he soon withdrew. However, half a year later it was Carmen’s turn to head to court asking for divorce. This time though, it stuck.
Cher and Greg Allman

Cher and Greg Allman’s end began only 10 days after their wedding with Cher filing for divorce. Legally however, they were married until 1979. There was even a child from this union – Elijah Blue Allman, now well known for his place in the band, Deadsy. Cher got into the marriage only a week after her previous one to Sonny Bono officially ended. The fact that Allman said that Cher ‘smelled like I imagined a mermaid would smell’ did not help them either!

You know how some people say they’re dying from laughter? Well, it turns out that when MTV comedian Tom Green married Drew Barrymore, the laughter ended up killing the marriage! Kinda. The two married on July 27, 2001, but took less than five months to apply for divorce, which they did on December 17th the same year.

The King’s daughter was quite notorious when it came to marriages. Her first one with Nicholas Cage was in August, 2002, but only three months later in November, Cage applied for divorce, even proclaiming that they shouldn’t have gotten married in the first place. It didn’t take long for the lady to give it another go though when she married the King of Pop Michael Jackson only 20 days after this divorce. The one with the pop star lasted another 20 months before that one ended too.
Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd

via foxnews

Our very own JLo isn’t known for many mistakes in her life or career, though there’s one that stands out like a sore thumb – her wedding to Cris Judd, her second one after she was married to Ojani Noa. This one only lasted four months at the end of which she had a brief relationship with the dashing Ben Affleck. Jennifer Lopez, of course, later went on to marry Marc Antony.
Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney

via people

The beautiful Renee Zellweger was four months into her relationship with Kenny Chesney when they decided to get married, which they did in May of 2005. Unfortunately, it took them exactly another four months to file for divorce. The statement they made was weirdly formal, “The miscommunication of the objective of their marriage at the start is the only reason for this annulment.”
Some of these celebrities moved on to better lives while some of them simply slipped away into oblivion, but one thing all of them took away from this was to not rush into marriage again. *Cough* Sorry, some of them.
