Fit and fabulous at 42, the Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara says she’s obsessed with candy. That sweet tooth doesn’t show on the cover of the November issue of Shape magazine, where the Colombian-born star wears barely-there bikini bottoms and a low-cut, figure-hugging top.
Her addiction to sugar is real, she insists in the interview, and is quoted as saying: “I heard about someone in LA who got hypnotized so they wouldn’t eat candy. I’m seriously looking into that because I’m obsessed.”
These days, the brunette beauty (who is naturally blond) not only eats smart, but she exercises too. She admits that she wasn’t always quite so committed, though, telling the magazine: “Everyone knows that I’ve never been into working out. I was always very happy with what I have. I mean, like any woman I’d complain that my thighs were too big or whatever, but I felt comfortable with my curves.”
It was a birthday that changed how the face of Cover Girl saw herself: “Then I hit 40 and started seeing a softness everywhere on my body…I knew it was time to do something.”
The A-lister works out with celebrity trainer, Jennifer Yates, lifts free weights and embraces Pilates to strengthen and tone. She drinks lots of vegetable juices, but is also realistic, telling Shape: “When I do indulge, I exercise a bit harder the next day. My workout motto is really simple: No pain, no cake!”
Ranked by Forbes this year as the 32nd most powerful woman in the world, the Diet Pepsi spokeswoman has an approximate net worth of $85 million, is the top-earning actress on TV for the third year in a row and has a 12-year contract with K-Mart as well as a new fragrance, among other endorsement contracts and brand products.
This year has been especially good for Vergara. Currently dating actor Joe Manganiello, 37, who is both a People’s Sexiest Man Alive and a Hottest Bachelor choice, she is also celebrating Modern Family’s fifth Emmy win for Outstanding Comedy Series.
