Nick Cannon, host of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ revealed his transformed ‘Mariah’ tattoo last week while partying in Hollywood. Unable to keep his shirt on, he exposed his back which now displays a large crucifix with what looks like angel’s wings at the top. The religious-inspired tat covers up the original tattoo, which he got in 2008 as a wedding gift to his now estranged wife, Mariah Carey.
The couple formally separated two months ago, and the songstress, currently on tour, seems to have told the world her version of events in song this weekend while performing in Tokyo. While singing Billie Holiday’s cheating song, ‘Don’t Explain,’ Mariah changed the original lyrics from “And I know you cheat. Right or wrong, don’t matter.” to “I know you cheated, mother******.”
Rumors of the 33-year-old’s unfaithfulness to his 44-year-old wife, and mother of his two children, have long plagued the couple, and until now, had been denied.
Differing career trajectories may have played a part in the relationship disintegration. When they met, Carey was certainly the more successful and recognizable of the two, but since then, Cannon has become a household name with his presence on AGT. While his dollar value of $20 million doesn’t compare to her net worth, said to be $510 million, he is involved in everything from running his own radio show and an MTV comedy sketch show to managing artists including Amber Rose, with whom he may have been involved since his split with Mariah.

On September 3, 2014, Cannon addressed rumors of his infidelities as well as the breakdown of his marriage on his Twitter account. In a series of tweets he wrote:
“I have personally been absent from social media for the past few months for obvious reasons but I feel the need to finally speak up…
“Because my family & I haven’t been forthcoming with personal information, people are quick to paint negative pictures and spread rumors.”
“For the record I NEVER have, nor will I make a statement regarding my marriage.”
“So whatever your favorite gossip outlet is reporting has been created within their own imagination…”
“At this difficult time I would ask all civilized people to please respect my family and this process…”
“What infuriates me most is to hear people slander @MariahCarey. I will forever be in debted to her for blessing me with our children…”
“I will always love her unconditionally for this and so much more. @MariahCarey is an amazing Mother and I trust her wholeheartedly…”
“So to see false reports in the media stating otherwise is absurd! While I would like to remain silent I can no longer allow this to happen.”
“I love @MariahCarey and that will never change!!!”
He ended with: “Now back to your regularly scheduled programming… #radiosilence.”
After Mariah’s outburst in Japan, it’s quite possible that the loving tone of Cannon’s twitter feed will change, although divorce lawyers for both sides would likely advise the two to keep their dirty laundry out of the public eye.
