Kathy Griffin is New Fashion Police Host after Joan Rivers

Following the unfortunate death of the classy, gutsy and enigmatic Joan Rivers, the show Fashion Police was without a host. Now, E! has made it official that Kathy Griffin will be the new host for the show when it returns in January to cover the Golden Globe Awards.

Griffin is of course excited about the developments and issued a statement, first acknowledging the great Joan Rivers and then going on to divulge her own fiery plans for the show, and she’s sure promising a lot too! “I get it! These are some big shoes I’m going to fill! Joan was truly one of a kind. Now I hope you will accept me for me. I’m just Kathy. Did I say I’m just Kathy? I meant I’m Kathy F***ing Griffin and you celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners. I am not holding back so DAMMIT let’s have some fun!” she declared in an announcement. Griffin definitely has the bite to head the couture critics brigade and her friendship with the late Rivers must have surely given her a lot of exposure to what the show is all about, apart from her appearance as a guest last year that is.

“Ironically, she and I talked about it many times,” Griffin revealed. “She would joke that, no matter what, I should always get 10 percent less than she got. It’s definitely something that I’ve put a lot of thought into.” Griffin also added how Fashion Police is more than just another assignment. “Obviously there is an emotional tie for me because Joan was such a good friend of mine, a close friend, truly a mentor – but also a legit friend. We talked about everything, and we joked about everything on the table, so it’s something that I’ve been thinking about for a while,” she said.

Melissa Rivers, Joan’s daughter and executive producer of the show is in on the decision and issued a statement hinting the same. “Kathy just feels right, and Brad brings a fun, new voice to join Giuliana and Kelly in this ensemble. I’m excited to see where this panel takes this series my mother so adored in this next incarnation,” the statement read, referring to Brad Goreski’s addition to the show too.

Kathy Griffin, Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski – the lineup for Fashion Police is sure an impressive one but no matter how well this new-look team does, the audience will always miss the special Joan Rivers touch!
