Christian Bale had quite a good run with the Batman but when the journey did come to an end, Bale admitted it was difficult, even confessing to a pang of jealousy towards Ben Affleck, the actor who took his place.
“I’ve got to admit initially, even though I felt it was the right time to stop, there was always a bit of me going, ‘Oh go on… Let’s do another.’ So when I heard there was someone else doing it, there was a moment where I just stopped and stared into nothing for half an hour,” admitted Bale in an interview. “I’m 40. The fact that I’m jealous of someone else playing Batman… I think I should have gotten over it by now!” In spite of his jealousy though, Bale did help out Affleck with the role in any way he could. “I haven’t spoken with Ben, but I emailed him offering bits of advice that I learned the hard way. I would imagine he is doing everything he can to avoid anything that I did,” he said.
Bale had played the Gotham City superhero in three movies, Batman Begins in 2005, The Dark Knight in 2008 and The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. He even lent his voice for the video game in the same year as his first movie. Almost a decade with a franchise surely makes it difficult to say goodbye!
Bale surely has been going strong with movies like American Hustle and Out of the Furnace. The talented actor is currently making headlines for his performance in the recent movie, Exodus: Gods and Kings.
