Beyoncé and Jay Z together have enough of Grammy nominations to go around for a few generations as the highest a couple has ever garnered. This and several other accomplishments make them the most musically talented couple in the entertainment industry. Yet, controversies related to copyrights don’t seem to be stay away from this power couple either.
If you remember Beyoncé’ Drunk in Love number, you will remember the mesmerizing vocals in the first few seconds of the song. Well, a Hungarian singer Monika Juhasz Miczura, also known as Mitsou, has sued the highly acclaimed couple saying that the vocals are hers and that her voice has been used in the song without her permission.
Apart from pointing out that Auto-Tune and sound editing techniques were used to transform her original song Bajba, Bajba Pelem, Mitsou has another grudge too. She claims the song, a traditional Roma folk song, has been played out of context too.
While her song is about despair, the lawsuit says that in Drunk in Love, her song was used to “evoke foreign eroticism alongside the sexually intense lyrics.”
Along with damages, Mitsou is also demanding that no version of the song with her voice in it should be played.
In addition to Beyoncé and Jay Z, Mitsou also mentions producer Timbaland in the lawsuit.
